The "Mysterious" Items...
Ok, some of this might be "quest ignorance" but I swear I collect/find/acquire so many items that seem to have no purpose in GW - the ultimate question is - what are they for? Quest items are almost always listed as such in their description - but there are several that don't fall into any item category - Red Iris Flowers, Inscribed Secrets, etc. If you have any such items, post them here so we can all "brainstorm lore" on what they're purpose might be if we hang onto some of these "secrets." I mean hey, if most of us worked at ANET and had the opportunity to put in little secrets that we could pull out later to do/be something incredible, wouldn't we all do it too?

Items that are a mystery that I can think of:
~The Tattered Girl's Cape (the one from the beach near Sactum Kay)
~The Broken Flute (the one found in Post Ascalon)
~The infamous Tapestry Shred (this one has tormented me for two years+)
~Preserved Red Iris Flowers
And while we are on it, why can you salvage some quest items (Kilnn Testible’s armor for example) and not others (Like the votive candles)?
Ah, great myteries of life...

I'm pretty sure that Inscribed Secrets are the Battle Commendation-type rewards for quests that are given in the Realm of Torment.
I have the lingering feeling that a lot of the cool odds and ends that we'll be hoping to learn the purposes behind will be left out of any further content, simply due to project constraints or unwillingness to provide answers for everything. I'd like to be wrong.

No collector though OI-812. And you forgot some other ones Hoyt if you count ones you can buy/find in Pre-searing.
Nothing to do about them, to the OP. Leave it at that.

One can always hope that A.net will tie up loose ends, put in the juniberry collector, and give the Ancient Weapon, Tapestry Shard etc. a purpose other than "noob-confusion device" (I had fun messing with my brother's mind when he first started playing GW, told him some story about the Tapestry Shred being needed to get the bonus on the final Prophecies mission)
